The Wildlife Rangers Club of Suriname (THE WRCS) is a pioneering non-profit organization dedicated to nature conservation. Established in 1973 by visionary biologists and conservationists, including Narain, Harrold Sijlbing, and Kenneth Tjon Kon Fat, THE WRCS has been a beacon of environmental education and preservation in Suriname. Initially formed as a youth organization, it provided a safe, educational, and fun environment for young Surinamese to learn about the tropical rainforest’s importance and actively participate in its protection.
After a period of inactivity, Wildlife Ranger Sharda Johnn reactivated THE WRCS in 2022, revitalizing its mission to educate and inspire the community, particularly the youth, about nature conservation. Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2023, THE WRCS continues to foster personal development, social awareness, and sustainable environmental practices.

It promotes legislation, innovative data-collection tools, and the benefits of nature to Suriname’s future.
As a Forest93 Ambassador, SUPERSHARDA is dedicated to educating Suriname’s youth about nature, wildlife, and essential life skills. She also chairs the Wildlife Rangers Club of Suriname, aiming to reconnect young people with nature and nurture their talents.
